Welcome to our Exercise Physiology Program for Veterans, proudly offered in partnership with the Department of Veterans Association (DVA). At REPS Movement, we are committed to supporting the health and well-being of our Veterans through evidence-based exercise interventions tailored to individual needs.
With a referral from your General Practitioner (GP), eligible Veterans can access our specialised exercise physiology services. The GP referral ensures that your exercise program is personalised to address your specific health needs and fitness goals.
Upon receiving the referral, our experienced Exercise Physiologists will conduct a comprehensive assessment that includes:
Medical history review: Understanding your health background, previous injuries, and existing medical conditions is crucial in designing a safe and effective exercise plan.
Physical assessment: We will evaluate your current fitness level, range of motion, strength, cardiovascular health, and any other relevant factors.
Goal setting: Our team will work with you to establish realistic and achievable exercise goals that align with your unique circumstances.
Based on the assessment findings and your individual goals, our Exercise Physiologists will design a tailored exercise program exclusively for you. This program will be structured to address your specific needs while considering any limitations or preferences you may have.
Our aim is to empower you with the knowledge and skills to perform exercises correctly and safely, ensuring maximum benefits from your workouts.
We believe in continuous progress and improvement. Therefore, our exercise programs are not static; they are regularly reviewed and adjusted based on your progress and changing health conditions. Regular follow-ups and assessments help us monitor your improvements, identify areas of concern, and make necessary modifications to your exercise plan.
Maintaining open communication with your GP is essential for ensuring your overall health and safety. We provide regular progress reports to your GP, keeping them informed of your exercise journey and health improvements.
Physical activity and exercise have been shown to offer numerous benefits to Veterans, including:
Improved mental well-being: Exercise can help reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression, promoting better overall mental health.
Enhanced physical fitness: Regular exercise improves cardiovascular health, muscular strength, and endurance, allowing you to better manage daily activities.
Weight management: Incorporating exercise into your routine can help with weight loss or weight maintenance, positively impacting your overall health.
Better sleep: Exercise has been linked to improved sleep quality, aiding in better rest and recovery.
Pain management: For those experiencing chronic pain conditions, certain types of exercise can provide relief and improve pain management.
Social support and camaraderie: Participating in group exercises at our gym fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among Veterans, promoting social well-being.
At REPS Movement, we are dedicated to helping Veterans lead healthier, more active lives through our Exercise Physiology Program. With personalised exercise plans, regular reviews, and collaboration with your GP, we strive to empower you on your journey to improved health and well-being.
